An electronic library has, not only text data but also sound, graphics, and motion video, in the form of digital data. As all data is digitized, various kinds of data can be merged easily and a high level of retrieval and other processing can be done under one roof.

Ø This E-library is one such initiative that offers a wide array of resources for everyone and a contemporary way to access the world around which is made easy by the establishment of E-Library by Presentation Convent High School, Rawalpindi.

Ø Presentation Convent High School, Rawalpindi being a reputed institute is living a legacy to influence all sectors of the society. The school embraces all the students, teachers and sisters to the exciting world of knowledge through e-library launched on May 25, 2023 by Sr. Akhtar.

Ø At the start of the inaugurating ceremony Mrs. Gulnaz and the band paid guard of honor to the renowned guests. Two students dressed in alluring ethnic costumes presented bouquet to His Excellency Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Archbishop of Rawalpindi Islamabad Diocese and Rev. Sr. Riffat Sadiq, the Unit Leader Presentation Sisters Pakistan.

Ø The e-library launching ceremony took place in the school hall on May 25, 2023. Mrs. Saira Adeel welcomed all distinguished guests (His Excellency Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Archbishop of Rawalpindi Islamabad Diocese. Rev. Sr. Riffat Sadiq, the Unit Leader Presentation Sisters Pakistan, Rev. Sr. Akhtar the Principal, Rev. Sisters, Fathers and Principals with immense cheer and gratitude for their presence in this inauguration ceremony.

Ø An Mrs. Saira Adeel led all in prayer.

Ø Mrs. Noreen Silas, the Vice Principal of Presentation Convent School, Rawalpindi gave formal introduction of e-library. She further emphasized that this enables instant access to all digital resources in one place – on any handheld device under safe security.A central digital library has been established in school which is data center to provide online access to full text eBooks, eJournals, online reference collections, selected documentaries, simulated videos and other international resources.

Ø During the event, there was a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon and the cake to mark the official opening of a newly developed e-library by His Excellency Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Archbishop of Rawalpindi Islamabad Diocese. Rev. Sr. Riffat Sadiq, the Unit Leader Presentation Sisters Pakistan and Rev. Sr. Akhtar, the Principal.

Ø Rev. Sr. Akhtar entered the URL and declared a grand opening of e-library . All the present members of the ceremony,congratulatedSr. Akhter for this new initiative. Photos were taken for digital record.

Ø In addition to this, Mrs. Noreen Silas, the Vice Principal and Sir Nasir Rohail gave the presentation on the peripherals of e-library and its usage. They visually explained the contents of digitalized school website and focused on targets to inculcate e-reading and e-learning culture amongst students, teachers and our society at large. Online collection of audio books related to various subjects, story books and instructive video lectures were categorized according to age groups and class level.A unique code’ ID (identification number)’, often machine-generated will be allotted to all students to ensure privacy under security.

Ø The Principal, Rev. Sr. Akhtar addressed all the present members of the ceremony. Her speech highlighted the importance of digital libraries in the education sector because they have a significant impact on students and schools, thus providing convenient access to a vast array of digital resources and enhancing the learning experience.In a nut shell, e-library enables efficient research and study, facilitates collaboration among students, and contributes to environmental sustainability.

Ø His Excellency Archbishop Dr. Joseph Arshad, Archbishop of Rawalpindi Islamabad Diocese was invited on the stage to share his views. His Excellency penned heartfelt note for this initiative of developing e-library in the school. According to His Excellency, this initiative is gleaming with newness, which will help to simplify the learning process and empowers novice students to easily and efficiently choose their curriculum-based topics and find authoritative information to support their research claim.

Ø In the end, Mr. Nasir Rohail gave an appreciation note of thankyou to all the participants of this auspicious occasion for their presence and support.
